Often called the "buckram replacement", this unique felt-like fabric is heat activated to create a stiff, rigid surface. Fosshape does not fray and can be cut with standard scissors, and can be sewn by hand or with machine with ease. Fosshape is great to create stabilization for fabrics, and for construction of things like collars and large hats.

Fabric steamers are the often preferred method for forming a desired amount of rigidity and stiffness, but conventional steam irons or an industrial hot air gun may oftentimes be helpful. The level of stiffness is achieved by adjusting heat, time and pressure.
Fabric steamers are the often preferred method for forming a desired amount of rigidity and stiffness, but conventional steam irons or an industrial hot air gun may oftentimes be helpful. The level of stiffness is achieved by adjusting heat, time and pressure. Fosshape shrinks with heat and designs should account for that fact.

Fosshape thin is approx 4 mm in the non-activated state.

Fosshape comes from a roll 45 inches wide and is sold in cuts as small as 11x18 inches (sample) to 36 inch (yard) lengths. Orders of multiple yards may be sent in several yard cuts: if you need your order shipped as one uncut piece, please email us to confirm stock.
